ORDINARY DIPLOMA AND TECHNICIAN CERTIFICATE IN PHARMACEUTICAL SCIENCE (PST)
If you're considering a career in the pharmaceutical industry, this course will give you the knowledge and practical skills for success in medicines analysis.
ABOUT COURSE
This 3 years-long course will help you explore drug discovery, pharmacology, and toxicology and examines the most effective ways that medicines are manufactured, packaged, stored, and administered. You'll take part in innovative class sessions and research, including new methods of drug delivery and drug synthesis.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Ordinary level (CSEE) four passes, D and above of non-religious subjects including Chemistry and Biology. English, Physics and Mathematics are added advantages.

Pharmaceutical science offers a wide range of career opportunities in various sectors, from research and development to regulatory affairs and healthcare.

Research and Development (R&D):
a. Pharmaceutical Research Scientist: Conduct research to develop new drugs, improve existing ones, or optimize drug delivery systems.
b. Medicinal Chemist: Design and synthesize new pharmaceutical compounds.
c. Pharmacologist: Study the effects of drugs on biological systems.
d. Formulation Scientist: Work on developing drug formulations and delivery methods.
Regulatory Affairs:
a. Regulatory Affairs Specialist: Ensure compliance with government regulations and approval processes for pharmaceutical products.
b. Quality Assurance/Control: Oversee the quality and consistency of pharmaceutical products.
Clinical Research:
a. Clinical Research Associate (CRA): Coordinate and monitor clinical trials to test the safety and efficacy of new drugs.
b. Clinical Data Manager: Manage and analyze data collected during clinical trials.
c. Clinical Research Coordinator: Assist in the planning and execution of clinical trials.
Pharmacovigilance and Drug Safety:
a. Drug Safety Specialist: Monitor and report adverse effects of pharmaceutical products.
b. Pharmacovigilance Scientist: Ensure the safety and efficacy of drugs throughout their lifecycle.
Pharmaceutical Sales and Marketing:
a. Pharmaceutical Sales Representative: Promote and sell pharmaceutical products to healthcare professionals.
b. Product Manager: Develop marketing strategies for pharmaceutical products.
Pharmacy and Healthcare:
a. Pharmacist: Dispense medication, provide healthcare advice, and manage drug therapy for patients.
b. Clinical Pharmacist: Work in healthcare settings, collaborating with other healthcare professionals to optimize drug therapy.
Academia and Education:
a. Pharmaceutical Educator: Teach and conduct research at universities or colleges.
b. Academic Researcher: Conduct research in a university or research institution.
Biotechnology and Biopharmaceuticals:
a. Bioprocess Engineer: Work on the development and production of biopharmaceuticals.
b. Biomanufacturing Specialist: Oversee the manufacturing of biopharmaceutical products.
Pharmaceutical Consulting:
a. Pharmaceutical Consultant: Offer expertise to pharmaceutical companies on various aspects, including R&D, regulatory affairs, and market access.
Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR):
a. HEOR Analyst: Evaluate the economic and clinical impact of pharmaceutical products.
Medical Writing:
a. Medical Writer: Create documents and publications related to pharmaceutical research and development.
Government and Non-profit Organizations:
a. Public Health Analyst: Work on public health policies, drug pricing, and access issues.
b. Non-profit Organizations: Contribute to global health initiatives and advocacy related to pharmaceutical access and affordability.
Drug Discovery and Artificial Intelligence (AI):
a. Computational Chemist: Use AI and computational methods to discover new drugs and optimize existing ones.
Biotechnology Entrepreneurship:
a. Pharmaceutical Startup Founder: Start and manage your own pharmaceutical company, developing innovative products.
